Setting Up at San Miguel

The outlying district of Manila from which the brewery takes its name.  “San Miguel Brewery, Manila.”

Sampaguita Pictures became a top film studio in the 1950s up to the 70s…
It produced many memorable movies and big screen hits as well as introducing many screen idols…
Its first feature length film was Bituing Marikit (1937)
One of it’s well-known manager was Dr Jose Perez…

Unfortunately, the Filipino film industry suffered economic downturn in the 80s so much so that big fillm studios closed shop…Sampaguita was sadly one of them..

I believe this was their old studio office along Gilmore street in San Juan…

If I not mistaken this site has been transformed in to a condominium building…
