Although it doesn’t appear in his collection, this photo was likely shot by S/Sgt Charles Restifo, since he was in the first group allowed to photograph the destruction. Below is page 111 from his autobiography.
The Pacific War Photos of Pfc Glenn Eve is an archive collected by my father while assigned to the 4026th Army Signal Photo Battalion. Although he shot many of the images herein, the iconic ones were likely developed by him while working in the Mobile Photo Lab. I credit the original photographer where possible.
